Lexus has proved that AI can create predictable car ads. It has released a commercial scripted entirely by artificial intelligence
In the 60-second film, Driven by Intuition, a car is given a crash test by being winched towards the back of a truck. The ES model’s intuitive driving stops the car just before it hits the truck. The idea is meant to demonstrate that humans and machines can work together for a better driving experience. That a machine can create an ad that mimics the ES model’s intuitive driving experience.
The storyline and script were created entirely from an AI programme, built by technology company, Visual Voice, in collaboration with The & Partnership London, with support from IBM Watson’s AI tools and applications. Production was by Carnage Films.
Scottish director, Kevin Macdonald, direct the AI script, which made its debut at Social Media Week in London on November 15 and will be released across digital, social and cinema across Europe on Monday, November 19.
To produce the film, the AI was created and trained it with data – which included fifteen years of award-winning luxury ads, emotional intelligence about what connects most strongly with viewers and specially commissioned information about human intuition.
