Apple specialist agency, TBWA\Media Arts Lab, has appointed Lu Borges as its new chief communications officer. Borges will be based at the agency’s Los Angeles headquarters, taking on a global role overseeing all communication for the agency’s seven hubs worldwide. She will reporting directly to chief executive officer, Katrien De Bauw, and will lead teams responsible for internal and external communications.
Borges is a key addition to Media Arts Lab’s executive team with nearly two decades of creative agency experience. Previously the head of brand and communications at MullenLowe US, she implemented a holistic approach to communications, elevating the agency’s reputation. Most notably, she led the agency’s global rebrand, revamping its Challenger Octopus logo to a modern, abstract, and fluid identity.
Borges has also held roles on three continents. She helped to shape, define, and fuel the reputation of Australia’s most effective and creative agency, BMF, and renowned Spanish agency, Shackleton (now Accenture Song). With a global perspective cultivated in Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela, Switzerland, Australia, Spain, and the US, she will oversee global communications, reputation management, social presence, awards, and events in her new role.
“Lu is sharp, talented, kind, and unafraid, and her understanding of creativity and culture will undoubtedly add great value for our client and elevate our agency,” stated Katrien De Bauw.
“I have long admired Media Arts Lab and how its bespoke creations for Apple have consistently raised the creative bar and impacted culture. I couldn’t be more excited to play a role in shaping the agency’s evolution alongside Katrien, Brent, and such a talented group of people,” Lu Borges added.
