Yesterday, after nine years of waiting, Tesla finally unveiled its new Roadster. The highlight: SpaceX thrusters lifting the car off the ground in a cloud of smoke, as spectators looked on from a very safe distance.
Within hours, the internet was full of memes.
Burger King’s grill crew watched it too. They were not impressed. Something flipping through the air in a cloud of smoke? At Burger King, that’s not a launch event. That’s a regular shift.
So McCann Greece and Burger King recreated the moment. Same smoke, same airtime, slightly different vehicle: a flame-grilled beef patty, launched above a smoking grill, with one line, FLIPPING INTO SMOKES SINCE 1954. (Maybe should have been smoke singular in English?: ed)
No thrusters. No remote control. No earplugs. Just a spatula and seven decades of practice.
“Congrats to Tesla on getting off the ground. Burger King has been doing it since 1954,” McCann Greece stated.
