The Oscars may be known as Hollywood’s night of nights, but the Knog No Ordinary Night Film Contest is a the worldwide night of film.
This is Knog: “We’re a team of creative designers and engineers who refuse to conform to anyone or anything. What binds us together is the same passion and ferociousness to smash the mould, challenge the status quo, and revolutionise the way we think about lights and locks.”
This is the Knog No Ordinary Night Film Contest: “Knog is on the hunt for the best night-time adventure video-makers. Whether it’s bike, skateboard, surf or dive, Knog wants to see it.”
This is its cheat sheet: “Although not a mandatory, entrants are encouraged to use action cams plus a Knog light – whether as one of their video lights or even a bike light.”
This is why the Knog No Ordinary Night Film Contest exists: “Deciding to run a film comp celebrating those heroes of the night, those guys who are out there smashing the mould and creating awe-inspiring action videos in the dark seemed like an absolute no-brainer to us. And having just released the [qudos] action light for GoPro this is a perfect opportunity to do something to celebrate.” [Hugh Davidson, chief executive officer, Knog]
This is its climax: The competition’s format is completely unique in that the winning films screen around the world in one night across seven countries. Melbourne, Manila, Munich, Paris, London, San Fran, Rio are all hosting viewing parties over the 24 hours of 6 June.
These are the rewards: Up to $15,000 worth of prizes from hot brands like Burton, Rapha, Levi’s, CamelBak, Timbuk2, Cycles Galleria and Tern – plus the world will see your work.
These are the judges: M&C Saatchi executive creative director, Ben Welsh, Rolling Stone editor, Mat Cotye and Knog chief executive officer, Hugo Davidson.
