Dentsu Creative has appointed Michael Aimette as US chief creative officer. He will be based in New York, leading Dentsu Creative’s US creative department, and partnering closely with Phil Gaughran, CEO, Dentsu Creative Americas, and the broader leadership team. His appointment underscores Dentsu Creative’s continued commitment to creativity, innovation and talent as key drivers of business performance.
“We’re at a moment when creativity matters more than ever,” Gaughran stated. “Clients are navigating extraordinary complexity, but they’re also looking for partners who can help them move faster, earn relevance and drive growth. Michael is the kind of leader who knows how to turn creative ambition into brand and business impact. His track record speaks for itself, but what excites me most is his ability to inspire people, unlock catalysing ideas and help clients create enduring competitive advantage.”
Aimette joins Dentsu Creative with more than two decades of experience leading award-winning creative teams. He was ranked the #4 most-awarded CCO in the world by The Drum in 2026 and the #1 CCO in the US by The One Club. Aimette has created and led some of the industry’s most celebrated work, including Budweiser’s back-to-back USA Today Super Bowl Ad Meter winners, Spotify’s groundbreaking Spreadbeats (which earned a D&AD Black Pencil), and Michelob ULTRA’s Penta Pencil-winning five-year run at The One Show. He has also led creative for major wins, including Pringles, Hyundai, the Gates Foundation, Intuit, and more. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for developing exceptional creative talent and fostering high-performing cultures that consistently produce outstanding work.
“The thing that gets me most excited is the chance to build. To bring great people together, create something special and have a ton of fun doing it. And that’s what drew me to Dentsu Creative,” Aimette commented. “There’s just an incredible amount of talent, a legacy of outstanding creative work globally and a whole range of capabilities that open up some really exciting possibilities. Now the fun part is bringing it all together — making creativity everybody’s business and creating the kind of work people can’t possibly ignore. I can’t wait to get going.”
