If you’re really into TV, TellyFest, is going to be a delight. If you’re really into TV, you’re the target market for the subscription-free satellite TV platform, Freesat.
TellyFest is a fictional convention that brings together superfans dressing up as their favourite characters on TV. It’s also Mr. President’s new feel-good campaign for Freesat. It’s filled with cheeky references to 40 of the UK’s favourite shows over the current and past decades. If you’re into TV, you’ll have fun finding them. And you’ll probably notice that it’s narrated by Big Brother UK’s Marcus Bentley.
“Freesat has seen incredible growth since we launched our Unbelievably Good strategy a couple of years ago. We worked with Mr. President to build on that platform and drive awareness that people across the UK can get all the telly they love without the monthly subscription fees. We loved the idea of TellyFest as a way to show, and celebrate, the cultural touchpoints that TV brings,” commented Andre Santos, director of marketing at Freesat.
The national TV ad will be exclusive to ITV, airing during some of the biggest prime time slots, including Coronation Street, I’m a Celebrity…, and more. The campaign will also be featured on VOD and via social and digital marketing.
Jon Gledstone, executive creative director and partner at Mr. President, explained, “The UK is a divided place at the moment. But few things bring us together like great telly; we discuss it, relive it and share it. Since Freesat has all of the best telly moments for everyone for free, we envisaged TellyFest as a fictional confab à la Comic-Con where telly superfans come together to celebrate their favourite characters and moments.”
Freesat’s new TellyFest campaign builds on Mr.President’s brand campaign, Unbelievably Good, which focused on the brand’s communications and was inspired by customer feedback about how they feel when they ditch pricey monthly subscription fees for Freesat.
