Non-fungible tokens have been an attention-grabbing tool for marketers for a year. Now (Testicular Cancer Awareness Month) it’s time for Non-Fungible Testicles to have their time in the sun (figuratively speaking) and raise awareness about the most diagnosed cancer in young men.
Agency, MRM, and Movember have created the first NFT that can save a life. The charity partnered with US street artist, Mishka, to launch the Non-Fungible Testicles on the Solana blockchain on April 26. The testicles are designed to encourage young men to check themselves for cancer, while raising funds for vital research.
To encourage men to check their testicles regularly, each NFT will evolve depending on often its owner ‘checks in’ on it. By unlocking rare bonus traits with each check in, owners will be rewarded for becoming familiar with their Non-Fungible Testicles in the same way that they are rewarded for checking their testicles. Regular self-checks enable men to get to know what’s normal for them, so they can act quickly if something changes.
When caught early, testicular cancer is highly treatable and curable. However, previous Movember research has shown that more than half of men aged between 18-34 worldwide didn’t know they were in the age group most at risk. Nearly two-thirds (62%) of this group didn’t know how to carry out a self-examination.

“The dynamic nature of NFTs and blockchain technology allows for new fun and innovative ways to reach men and encourage behaviour change,” commented Dan Cooper, director of innovation at Movember. “Owners will be rewarded for checking their Non-Fungible Testicles, like you should do with your own. It’s the first NFT collection we know of that could save a life. It’s also a fun way to own a unique piece of artwork from our partners Mishka and join a unique community of like-minded collectors and NFT owners.”
Details of how to mint and support the Non-Fungible-Testicles are on Movember’s official NFT Discord, Twitter and nonfungibletesticles.io. NFTs from Movember’s Non-Fungible Testicles Project will be stored on the Solana blockchain due to the lower environmental impact and ease of entry. Proceeds from the sale of the NFTs will support the multi-national testicular cancer TIGER trial, which has been designed to determine which therapy works best for men who’ve been treated for testicular cancer, but in whom the cancer has returned.
