First of all, let me seize the opportunity to say, “Kudos to the person who named Bingle Insurance.”
Traditional dictionary: bingle (ˈbɪŋɡəl) n. Australia: a minor crash or upset, as in a car or on a surfboard [C20: of uncertain origin]
Urban dictionary: bingles. money, usually 1s. made from combing single with bills.
eg: yo dude just throw me some bingles for the case and we’ll be even.
Now to its news…
The pitch for low cost online insurance company, Bingle Insurance, has been won by The Monkeys.
gho had been creating look at me animated ads for the insurer during 2013: a 50 foot woman rampage in Sydney, a flying saucer invasion in Melbourne, a bizarre wasp-woman creating havoc and a giant spider hunting motorists. These giant monsters represented the car insurance premiums of other insurers.
Bingle is part of the Suncorp Group, It launched in 2007 to provide low-cost comprehensive car insurance for low-risk drivers. It stood alone in 2007.
But the playing field changed last year for the leading provider of online comprehensive car insurance in Australia. It’s overrun with aggressive competitors now. And The Monkeys was gauged to be the agency up to the task of making Bingle stand out in a very noisy crowd of players.
“The Monkeys put together a strong strategy and creative presentation and demonstrated a clear understanding of building and growing challenger brands. We are excited about what lies ahead and having The Monkeys on board will be a big part in creating the next chapter for Bingle,” stated Richard Riboni, executive manager – marketing for Bingle.
