Lester Jones directed the standout film, Mother, for UN World Water Day, a humanised journey into the effects of climate change. He also wrote it. He directed the R.M. Williams commercial, On The Road, Sheridan’s Real Deep Sleep, and a film called The One for International Women’s Day, that spotlights female, strength beauty and identity.
His film, The Charge, about isolation, triggered by the pandemic, has been selected to screen at film festivals throughout the world. He has also recently directed campaigns for Paspaley, Commbank, Westfield and Telstra.
Photoplay is understandably thrilled to announce the signing of Lester Jones for representation.
Jones’ work focuses on emotive yet stylised imagery. The filmmaker combines visual storytelling with his understanding of human connection to create his striking, characteristic mood and tone. He is drawn to projects where his considered cinematic approach can reveal a human element through performance and emotive storytelling.
Photoplay managing director & executive producer, Oliver Lawrance, commented, “Lester is a passionate and insightful film director who lenses the world in such a fascinating way. His work is emotive and really connects and challenges audiences, and I love that his personal work does not avoid the challenging issues that threaten humanity and the environment. We are very fortunate to have him on board.”
Jones added, “Throughout the years, I’ve had a big appreciation for Photoplay. They have a great respect for craft and are well known as people who are great to work with. I’m flattered to be rubbing shoulders with their talented team and roster.”
