Guy Sebastian’s Choir is a hauntingly beautiful song, a celebration that triumphs over loss. James Chappell has given it a magnificent video that enhances its might. That film, which had been one of ten videos nominated, won Best Music Video at the 2019 ARIA Awards last night at The Star Event Centre in Sydney.
The clip is dedicated to Guy Sebastian’s late friend, Luke Liang, and features Sebastian’s son, Hudson Sebastian.
Choir is the third music video that Chappell has directed for Sebastian. Before I Go was released in November last year:
Let Me Drink is soon to be released.
Chappell commented, “I’m humbled to see my work for Guy win at the ARIAs and I’m very pleased to witness the success of such a hard-working artist, who I’ve really enjoyed collaborating with over the years.”
Photoplay and Playtime executive producer, Oliver Lawrance, added “James is a high concept, cinematic storyteller and we’re very proud of his latest ARIA win. He’s a director on the rise who has just turned 30-years-old last week and has a long glorious career ahead.”
Chappell’s most recent work includes campaigns NRLW Incomparable via Host Havas:
and Lung Foundation Australia’s Walk in My Shoes via OPR Agency.
His other music videos include Nightmares for Set Mo, Like Michael Jackson for Savage
and Wings for Armand Van Helden.
