When you’re a retail chain with 11,935 stores globally and many thousands of customers visiting every day, you have a lot of staff exposed to a lot of viruses and bacteria. Carrefour is that retail chain – and there are very many like it.
Carrefour Poland and Saatchi & Saatchi Interactive Solutions (IS) Poland have launched a solution that protects employees from getting sick – a uniform that acts as a shield, killing bacteria and viruses on contact.
The Uniform that Cares is made from a new fabric, CottonX, invented by Argaman Technologies and created by attaching copper compounds to cotton fibres using ultrasonic waves. This has anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. Copper kills viruses and bacteria by targeting germs which settle on the surface of the fabric.
“This project underlines our openness as a brand to testing new technologies that can improve the comfort of our employees,” stated Robert Noceń, general secretary, Carrefour Poland.
The project is currently gaining nationwide acknowledgement, having recently been shared on Twitter by former vice prime minister of Poland, Janusz Piechociński.
Piotr Osinski and Patrycja Lukjanow, associate creative directors at Saatchi & Saatchi IS, noted, “We believe in the value of new technologies, especially when they have the groundbreaking benefit of looking after people’s health. So we are pleased by the possibility of testing such an innovation in a traditional retail setting.”
