The motto of Toronto agency, kbs+, is Do things that matter. Santa matters. So the agency has rebranded him.
OK, it’s a self-promo. But it’s perfectly timed, generous in spirit and a lot of fun. We let kbs+ tell its own story:
“We love brands. We love Santa. And we love how one of the world’s most popular brands popularised his look back in the 1930s. But we wondered: What would Santa look like if other brands got there first?
“So we created a series of 12 Rockwell/Sundblom-style illustrations with gifted Canadian artist, Sharif Tarabay. Each illustration reimagines Santa from the ground up. Sharif also became the subject of our short film. Here’s a guy who has painted Santa for years. Who looks a little like Santa. Who may even be Santa. Thing is, Sharif also has a problem with Santa.
The project is The brands of Santa.
