Johnny Green has returned to Australia to lead creative direction at Squeak E. Clean, adding his vast experience to the famed music and audio studio. He will work with the company’s local and international team, nurturing emerging musical talent, strengthening agency relationships and growing original music offerings and creative collaboration.
Green was part of the Australian crew that relocated to New York when Nylon Studios, now Squeak E. Clean, launched its first US studio in 2008. From New York, he wrote on many of Nylon New York’s standout campaigns, including Axe Anarchy Island for BBH London and Farmers Help Point for Noam Murro.
He went on to found Rumble Studios with a fellow Nylon alum, and more recently served as partner and creative director at Heckler Sound. His career spans more than 20 years across advertising, film, television, sonic branding, and immersive storytelling.
Green has composed for the feature film, Boss Cat, the feature documentary, True South, and NCIS: Sydney, and scored campaigns for Nike, Qantas, Mercedes-Benz, Coca-Cola, Telstra, Mirvac, HSBC and Macquarie Group. He has overseen and edited recordings by Tones and I, Hoodoo Gurus, Dom Dolla, Radiohead, Angus & Julia Stone and Dean Martin. Green has also supervised large-scale productions with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and worked in theatre with Barrie Kosky and Baz Luhrmann.
Central to his vision is engaging early in the creative process, helping shape ideas and storytelling through music and being a creative partner to clients who want to push the
envelope. “Squeak E. Clean is where a lot of my story started, so coming back feels pretty special,” Green stated. “Here I know I will have the support and resources of the best team in theworld, awarded 2026 Music Company of the Year by both Cicople and Shots. I’ve got big ideas, so do our clients, and I’m here to have a crack at the stuff nobody has tried yet. “
“We’ve worked with Johnny from early in his career,” added David Gaddie, chairman, Squeak E. Clean Studios. “He’s a major Australian talent who really gets the brief and offers creative ideas backed by extensive experience. It’s a joy to welcome him back to the team.”
Green joins the Australian management team of EP, Ceri Davies; head of sound, Paul Le Couteur; and head of music, Max Wilkinson. Elle Graham, artist relationship manager, connects the team with the best Australian talent working between Australia and Los Angeles. Together, they will give clients direct access to Squeak E. Clean’s global network and deep production resources, including its historic Los Angeles sound stage, live band, string and orchestral recording, and the recently launched Hollywood Philharmonic.
“Johnny’s a seriously good composer and creative director,” commented Rob Barbato, Squeak E.Clean partner and executive creative director. “I’ve worked with him on several projects these last few months. He’s inventive, great in the room, and he doesn’t settle.”
