Last month Sweetshop director, Edward Berger’s Netflix Drama, All Quiet on the Western Front, won 7 BAFTA’s including Best Picture and Best Director. On Monday night, it took out 4 of its 9 nominations at the Academy Awards.

The film was awarded Best International Feature, Best Cinematography, Best Sound and Best Production Design. While accepting the award, Berger made special mention of the lead actor, Felix Kammerer “This was your first movie, and you carried us on your shoulders. Without you, none of us would be here.”
After coming off stage, golden statue in hand, Berger spoke to reporters about feeling like an outsider in Hollywood, “I hope this gives me and a few others, a bit of confidence to say, let’s just do it!”
Executive chairman and founding partner, Paul Prince, commented, “Sending a huge congratulations to Edward on behalf of everyone here at Sweetshop, we couldn’t be prouder of what he and his crew have achieved. Outstanding achievement.”
