Four paid one-year apprenticeship positions are available across Melbourne and Sydney in TBWA\Australia’s 2027 FRESHIES program, with applications open until November 15.
To choose them the agency is giving newbies a blank page again, inviting the next generation of creative talent to show the agency who they are without relying on a CV, portfolio, or resume. Following the success of the blank-page application mechanic introduced last year, applicants will again be given one simple challenge – fill out a blank page. The process is designed to remove the pressure to arrive with the “right” advertising credentials and instead put the emphasis on curiosity, creativity, and individuality.
Across the year-long program, FRESHIES will experience a hands-on, working rotation in each agency department, including creative, production, strategy, PR & social, and business management.
The FRESHIES program aims to open the door beyond traditional advertising pathways, encouraging applications from people coming through university, TAFE, or entirely different industries and backgrounds. No prior advertising experience or qualification is required.
Ricci Meldrum, managing director at TBWA\ Australia, stated, “The blank page gives us something a CV can’t; a candid, unfiltered look into the creative mind behind the application. Last year, no two pages looked remotely the same. We saw different interests, experiences and ways of thinking come through, which is exactly what the FRESHIES program is about.”
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a workshop day, where they will work on a real brief before the final selection is made.
Applications for the 2027 FRESHIES program open at www.tbwa.com.au/freshies, with submissions closing Sunday, 15 November at 6pm.
