Apple is firing up the creativity of Brits with a competition idea by TBWA\Media Arts Lab UK. For the first time, anyone in the UK can be part of the Battersea Christmas tree animation. Apple is inviting the UK to express their creativity on iPad in honour of Your Tree on Battersea. The Christmas tree drawing competition is accepting submissions until midnight November 23 (GMT) and the 24 winning submissions will be included in a projection onto Battersea Power Station chimneys and wash tower on December 4 at 5 pm. along with contributions by established artists and notable figures, such as Sir Stephen Fry and David Shrigley OBE.

The Battersea tradition commenced in 2023 with world-renowned artist, David Hockney’s, Bigger Christmas Trees, that he created on iPad Pro. In 2024, Aardman, the creators of Wallace & Gromit, used iPhone 16 Pro Max to produce a short animation of Wallace and Gromit building Christmas trees.
“Using the power and versatility of our most capable iPad lineup yet, we’re excited to bring Christmas cheer to Battersea Power Station and inspire festive creativity across the nation,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “It’s inspiring to see such remarkable talent across multiple mediums – all brought together alongside Munya Chawawa. We can’t wait to experience these creations next to the incredible contributions from the public.”
From November 6-22, all 39 Apple Store locations across the UK will host special 30-minute Today at Apple sessions dedicated to helping the public create and submit their Christmas tree designs. The sessions will run until December 22, so that the public can get creative on iPad and Apple Pencil throughout the festive season.
Submissions can also be completed from home. Here’s how to do it:
- Step One: Download the template to iPad via apple.com/uk/apple-christmas-trees then open a drawing app to get started.
- Step Two: Create the Christmas tree. Make it wonderful or make it weird.
- Step Three: Ready to enter? Submit entries via apple.com/uk/apple-christmas-trees. Submissions will be accepted until midnight, 23 November.
