If you thought that Apple’s Shot on iPhone films could not get any more ambitious (or more glorious), its new film will be a gobsmack.
Apple and Chinese director, Zhang Meng, are kicking off the Year of the Tiger with a twenty-three minute film shot entirely on three iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max phones, with no additional lenses. Like all its sibling Apple films by TBWA\Media Arts Lab, this one also has the look and feel of a Hollywood production, which is the point of the campaign, of course.
The film, The Comeback, is a movie about making a movie, it has an inspiring message – never stop believing in your dreams – and a fusion of movie genres – Hollywood sci-fi, traditional Kung Fu action and nostalgic feel-good comedy.
The Comeback is accompanied by a behind-the-scenes look at how it was made. This second film shows how the director used features such as Cinematic Mode, macro, filmed in Low Light, and used the Ultra Wide and Telephoto cameras to make the movie about making a movie.
The campaign is running in broadcast TV, digital and paid social media, YouTube and Apple TV, the last three in select regions.
