When you lose the basics – job security, a home and family connection – exclusion usually follows. A vicious circle then forms from which it is difficult to get out. Non-profit organisation, Entourage, works to recreate a social link with homeless people. Beyond a real need for food, shelter, money, or clothes, homeless people are mainly looking for consideration and friendship to allow them to regain self-confidence and succeed in breaking the spiral of exclusion.
Today, 24% of homeless people work. A majority of the rest long to find a job and are able to work. [Survey “People without home and employment”, INSEE April 2014]
“Finding a job could allow me to recover my identity, my self-esteem,” stated Mélanie, a past homeless currently looking for a job.
To achieve that, both employers and the general public need to change their perception about homeless people. Not having the basics doesn’t also mean having no skills or a desire to succeed. But without network, the chances of vulnerable people finding a job are close to zero.
So with help from TBWA\Paris, Entourage has created the LinkedOut project, a digital platform which allows anyone to share the resume of vulnerable people searching for a job and give them unique visibility and opportunities. The platform is extremely simple to use, highlighting people who desperately need a job to find their feet again. It includes their resume and gives them the opportunity to show who they really are.
Entourage has launched the project with twenty candidates is hoping that its campaign film and tagline, LinkedOut: a share can change everything, will encourage people to unite their own networks to find work for these candidates and for hundreds of them thereafter.
