The AICP Awards has released its shortlists for the 2022 editions of The AICP Show: The Art & Technique of the Commercial, the AICP Next Awards and the AICP Post Awards.
Heading up the curatorial sessions were Mal Ward, partner & managing director of Arts & Sciences, and chairperson of the AICP Show; Scott Donaton, vice president, marketing at Hulu, and judging chair for the AICP Next Awards; and Yvette Cobarrubias, co-founder and managing partner of Cosmo Street, and chairperson of the AICP Post Awards.
Winners for all three competitions will be applauded at live events during AICP Week, which kicks off on June 7 in New York, and culminates in a presentation at The Museum of Modern Art on June 9.
The AICP Show Shortlist
Smuggler leads the list of production companies on the AICP Show Shortlist with 23 items across the Show’s 22 categories. MJZ is #2 with 21 entries. Love Song is #3 13. Partizan has 8 shortlisted entries. Iconoclast and Stink have 7 each.
The #1 agency on the AICP Show Shortlist this year is Droga5 with 24 shortlisted entries. BBDO and TBWA\Chiat\Day offices both have 17. Apple’s in-house agency has 1. adam&eveDDB has 9.
The top brand’s at shortlist stage are Apple with 23 Shortlisted entries, followed by Meta with 17. Up Sandy Hook Promise and What’s App, have six shortlisted entires each.
The AICP Next Awards Shortlist
The Next Awards is AICP’s competition for work in new and emerging media.
R/GA (Buenos Aires, California, London, New York and Portland) leads the agencies 23 shortlisted entries. 72andSunny has 8. Verizon’s in-house agency, Verizon Creative Marketing, has &. Leo Burnett and TBWA Media Arts Lab have 6 each.
R/GA again is also the #1 production company at shortlist stage with 23 shortlisted entries. Verizon Creative Marketing has 7. m ss ng p eces has five. Hungry Man, Schrom Studios and TBWA\Media Arts Lab have four each
Verizon leads the shortlisted brands with 9 shortlisted entries. Apple and Nike have 7 each. Google scored has 5 five. Change the Ref, Inc. The consortium of brands and causes including PERIOD., August, OffLimits, Free the Period, Ignite, No More Secrets and The Flow Initiative, have 4; as does Sephora.
The AICP Post Awards Shortlist
AICP Post Awards winners honours are unique among the AICP Awards in that they’re presented to individual post-production artists and not companies.
Sound designer and mixer, Sam Ashwell from 750mph is #1 with 7 shortlisted entries. He shares six of them fellow 750mph mixer, Michalis Anthis, #2 in the shortlist rankings, and one with 750mph mixer, Mark Hellaby. Cut+Run editor, Beau Dickinson, also has six entries. Sound designers and mixers, Charles Deenen, of Source Sound, Inc. and sound designer, Raphael Anjuelos, of Meta Creative X, have 4 each.
Top production companies with shortlist mentions on the Post Awards: Artists associated with Company 3 have earned 17 shortlist mentions collectively. Artists associated with The Mill have earned 14 shortlist mentions. (The Mill shared an additional Shortlist entry with MPC.) Cut+Run has 13. Work Editorial has 12. Final Cut has 10.
Top agencies with shortlist mentions on the Post Awards: Droga5 is #1 with 27 shortlist mentions. BBDO offices, including Energy BBDO, BBDO Proximity, BBDO New York and BBDO SF, have 11.
