The 14th edition of One Club’s Portfolio Night takes place in cities all over the world on Wednesday, May 23.
Thousands of young creative hopefuls will join the one night only event in the hope of impressing dreams creative directors and winning a spot at the prized New York All-Stars event.
This year Perth is the only Australian city representing this worldwide event, so when asked to promote the night via an engaging online film, The Brand Agency and its content production house, King Street, the agencies to town. To tinsel town, in fact.
In the Quentin Tarantino inspired clip, The Brand Agency executive creative director, Marcus Tesoriero, and J.Walter Thompson executive creative director, Paul Coghlan, are bound and gagged, recreating the famous ‘gimp’ scene from Pulp Fiction. They’re being held hostage by a pair of deranged creative students. The direction and torturous sex-dungeon set was meticulously recreated beat by beat, with King Street showing off the high level of finish it can create on a shoestring budget.
Tesoriero commented, “Portfolio Night is a fantastic opportunity to pass on advice to the next generation of enthusiastic creatives so when we were asked to promote the night, there was no holding back when it came to the scripts. For a bit of fun, we put the challenge out to recreate one of Tarantino’s most famous scenes ever. And on virtually zero budget, I was amazed with what the team pulled together in just a few short days. The message is loud and clear so I’m confident it will get the attention of the up-and-coming Perth creative community to come and take part.”
