When two teams of inventive creative people come together ad-magic happens. Even for a laundry detergent brand. Try not to be riveted to Ecover’s spot by Uncommon and The Glue Society from the get-go. Wait for the surprise in the middle. Feel a surge of pride in doing the right thing for the environment.
Standout spot, isn’t it?!
More than 1000 items of clothing go to landfill every thirty seconds in the UK alone. It is no secret that fashion waste is negatively impacting the planet but most awareness campaigns centred around the new items we buy. Uncommon executive creative director, Nils Leonard, and his teams decided to move the conversation to something new. To focus on the clothes we already own, highlighting the environmental benefit of using Ecover to keep clothes in use for longer and out of landfill.
The Glue Society then brought its creative verve into building the drama of the 60-second film. The campaign launched the day before London Fashion Week in an effort to raise awareness within the fashion community of the important issue.
It was vital for Ecover to conduct a sustainable shoot as they have been green leaders for the last 40 years. Production company, Biscuit & Revolver/WillO’Rourke, ensured that all carbon involved in the production was offset through Ad-green conduct. Every piece of clothing used on set was second-hand and had been ethically sourced. It was also collected after the shoot by clothing company, Clothes Aid, which reuses second-hand clothing. The studio used for the shoot was partly powered by renewable energy.
