What an honour for The Glue Society and Australia. The Glue Society’s Paul Bruty has been featured in Cannes LIONS Top Director List. This year, Bruty is the only Australian to make any of the top ten rankings – across top performing director, art director, creative director and copywriter.

The lists are part of the annual Cannes LIONS Creativity Report, which features insights, analysis, interviews with Lion-winning creators and the rankings for creative excellence, compiled using data from winning and shortlisted work from 2022.
Simon Cook, CEO LIONS explained, “The official global creativity rankings provide a definitive benchmark for the industry, accompanied by insights and commentary from our winners and the talented experts who judged the work this year. I would like to congratulate everyone who ranked this year. Together, they set the global benchmark for creativity.”
Bruty’s direction of the Sheba Hope Reef project – alongside Murray Butler of Framestore – was recognised with two Grands Prix in the LIONS Festival and earned the pair a number six placing on the Director List. His work on the Hope Reef project continues to receive international praise and recognition, while the reef itself is also continuing to flourish.

Bruty stated. “It’s obviously been a remarkable project to be part of. We’re not really a set-up which puts too much store in rankings, but equally, this is something that further draws attention to what was a special project from the very beginning.”
Jasmin Helliar, Revolver executive producer, added, “It’s been a fantastic year for Paul. He’s made such an incredibly diverse range of work – from helping to create the Pepsiverse for Special Group and designing Nike’s Playground for All, as well as directing Hope Reef – demonstrating there aren’t too many people who can apply themselves so distinctively and uniquely to whatever the project demands.”
The LIONS Creativity Report is powered by The Work, the LIONS intelligence and insights platform that houses 250,000 pieces of work along with how it was briefed, researched, produced and crafted. Access the full report, for free, here.
