The Most Popular TVC competition in the TV Week Logie Awards has been cancelled. This would have been its second year. The winner would have taken home a Logie stature and a $100,000 advertising package across Bauer Media’s assets. Nominations for the 2020 round of entries closed on March 31.
The competition closure is part of the cancellation by TV Week publisher, Bauer Media, of the live 2020 TV Week Logie Awards presentation due to the coronavirus pandemic over the weekend.
Fiona Connolly, Group Publisher at Bauer Media, made the following statement:
“Given the global COVID-19 pandemic the 2020 TV WEEK Logie Awards will not proceed as planned on the Gold Coast on Sunday June 28, nor any of the ancillary public events. But we will continue with our nominations announcement and online voting campaign and are working with our partners on a TV broadcast alternative and will advise of those details when we have them.”
The inaugural winner of the Most Popular TV commercial was Droga5 New York’s Return of Dundee campaign for Tourism Australia. Finalists were BMF’s Santa Crashes Christmas for Aldi and The Monkeys’ Lamb Side Story for Meat and Livestock Australia.
