During Halloween, a guilty pleasure in Greece is dressing up as infamous serial killers or watching movies about them. But there’s another, far more vicious, kind of “serial killer” in Greece – its streets.
Greece currently ranks 3rd in the EU for fatal crashes, and the numbers still show that poor driving habits are the norm.
Most Greek streets have dangerous spots that have claimed far too many lives. So many in fact, that the number of their victims surpasses that of the most notorious serial killers in history. The Newtons Laboratory and road safety organisation, R.S.I. Panos Mylonas, have used the Halloween moment to put an end to the deadly reign of Greek roads.
To illustrate that the streets of Athens are in fact serial killers, the agency selected three of the city’s most dangerous spots and photographed them with a dark, spooky aesthetic, presenting them as scenes straight out of a horror movie. At the same time, it created a typography, inspired by handwritten notes of infamous serial killers, adding a touch of mystery and suspense.
