The rotisserie chicken – plain, Greek, Thai and peri peri; supermarket, Chargill Charlie’s, El Jannah or Oporto – is an Aussie food phenomenon. It’s also the Aussie bachelor’s standard answer to what’s for dinner. Now it’s also an Aussie fashion phenomenon. And it has been given a dash of humour, a nod to the men who are keeping rotisserie chicken at the top of Australia’s food trends.
Creative collective, Size 11, has launched The Bachelor’s Handbag, a cross-body utility bag inspired by Australia’s rotisserie chicken culture.
Size Eleven is a fashion-forward union of like-minded creative individuals, that was made possible thanks to Thinkerbell’s Pot of Gold initiative, where a grant is given to employees who pitch a product or innovation to the agency founders. Size Eleven consists of Vince Usher (lead brand thinker), Jack Burton (lead tinker), Lucas Fowler (lead tinker) and Taylor York (national head earned thinker). All profits made are split evenly between Size 11 and Thinkerbell.
Named the Macquarie Dictionary Australia’s 2022 word of the year, the term, The Bachelor’s Handbag, was coined to describe the supermarket chicken. It has become a viral phenomenon and has been also colloquially known as a tradie’s handbag or bachelor’s briefcase.
Seven 11’s fashion version, streetwear’s latest grail item, The Bachelor’s Handbag is available to purchase from bachelorshandbag.com for a cool price of AU$34.99 (+GST) plus delivery costs.
After one of the first customers to purchase The Bachelor’s Handbag was spotted on the streets of Sydney by a Reddit user, news media personalities have gone crazy for the bag including Karl wearing it on The Today Show, Amanda gifting it to Jonesy on WSFM and a review by Man of Many seeing over 5,000 IG DM shares and counting.
