Agency, Try, and Bacon director, Andreas J. Riiser, have created evil (remote-controlled) shopping carts intent on taunting drivers with the threat of damaging their car. It’s an ad stunt for Norwegian bank and car insurance provider, DNB that could have gone horribly wrong. I don’t have a sense of humour about shopping carts rolling towards my car. Agency, Try, and Bacon director, Andreas J. Riiser, took a risk when it chose the frustration of shopping car dents to highlight the need for car insurance. (Does anyone else immediately think about the annoyance of paying the excess?)

To complete the nightmare, the carts were equipped with hidden speakers to make the noise of hitting a car. “The result is a fun spot with a classic candid camera feel.” I’m not one hundred percent convinced about that but the campaign film WILL attract attention, WILL evoke emotion and does make its point (DNB doesn’t raise the insurance premium after parked car claims). And Riiser was clever enough to highlight the humour of the stunt towards the end of the film.
