Uncommon Creative Studio New York and 350 Action have erected a life-size statue of Florida governor, Ron DeSantis, with production company m ss ng p eces. It’s melting in the heat; that’s what it was designed to do.

The statue in Tallahassee, Florida, is a statement about DeSantis’ 8-year denial of climate change. 350 Action is working to support those fighting climate change and hold politicians accountable. It has arrived ahead of the US midterm elections and shortly after Climate Week NYC. The stunt called DENIAL is urging Americans to deny climate change deniers and sign a pledge to vote for climate conscious candidates.
The sculpture was produced using 3D scanning and printing to achieve photorealistic detail, then cast in solid gallium, a metal that melts at 29.8°C, below Tallahassee’s average summer high of 32. 8°C. Florida is predicted to reach even higher temperatures under 2°C of global heating.
In 2024, DeSantis’s signed HB 1645, which erased the phrase “climate change” from Florida state law – even as the state spent more than $1 billion responding to floods, storms, and heat.
“This banned offshore wind the state didn’t even have. Scrapped its clean energy goals. Cut its emissions grants. And made it easier to build gas pipelines. All in one of America’s most climate-vulnerable states,” Uncommon Creative Studio NY CCO, San Shepherd noted in his LinkedIn post.
The governor is scheduled to leave office in January 2027 after serving eight years as governor and reaching his term limit.
