That little prick of fear is a powerful weapon. VML UK and global wealth and asset manager, Lombard Odier, have used it to encourage high-net-worth-individuals to rethink their financial wellbeing, speaking directly to their current needs and ambitions. The hero commercial also relies on another powerful device, a mesmerising visual of a spinning top constantly realigning itself to navigate a miniature world out of balance.

The campaign, Rethink Stability, underlines how Lombard Odier is guiding investors through the current time of uncertainty, reframing stability as a dynamic, ever-evolving pursuit and challenging conventional wisdom in wealth and asset management that you dig in and “stay the course”. The top becomes a metaphor for Lombard Odier’s understanding that stability is found, not by slowing down and digging in, but through movement. Through rethinking.
The hero commercial’s captivating visual effects and techniques are by Framestore. The brand is well-known in financial circles for its thought-provoking work, but this campaign is designed to take creativity into new territory for both the brand and the category.
Every frame of the film was meticulously crafted in CG, but also profoundly grounded in real-world cinematography. Depth of field, lens compression, light falloff, and tactile surface interactions were all carefully designed to feel natural, lived-in, and physically plausible, to give the work an emotional resonance rarely seen in financial marketing.

Fabio Mancone, partner at Lombard Odier commented, “Rethinking is in our DNA. In a world that feels increasingly out of balance, this campaign challenges the idea that stability is something static. Instead, we see it as something dynamic that must be actively created. We’re proud to lead with a creative approach that reflects the complexity of today’s global shifts – and how we aim to navigate them.”
Julian Watt, creative lead at VML, added, “The idea was created as a strong and simple reminder of the fundamentals of stability, using the spinning top as elegant metaphor for navigating precarious times. The craft, deliberately intricate and detailed, counterpoints and compliments the simple and clear philosophy that sits at the heart of the brand.”
The full campaign covers out-of-home, social, press, digital, owned channels, editorial, and events.
