Netflix collaborations with brands are not exactly unique, but Wendy’s has a lot of fun packed into its dual promo with the second series of Wednesday, the supernatural comedy television series based on the “smart, sarcastic and a little dead inside” Addams Family character, Wednesday Addams…and a Gen Z pop culture phenomenon.
Firstly, the fast food chain has sidelined its sweet pig-tailed mascot to give scowling Wednesday a run, bearing the message, Pain is my recipe.

Secondly, it has created a (spicy, because it’s trending) limited-edition Meal of Misfortune, consisting of Rest in 10-Piece Nuggets, a small order of Cursed & Crispy fries and the Raven’s Blood iteration of the Frosty, served with a plastic Spoon of Gloom. Perversely, because Wednesday is, the meal includes two of four spicy Dips of Dread such as This Will Sting and Grave Mistake, that customers cannot choose themselves and each packet is branded with a question mark. Packaging gets into the Wednesday mood with a message that reads, There’s Nothing Happy About This Meal, Wednesday’s favourite purple and black colour scheme.
@snachwithzach Wendy’s new Wednesday Addams Meal of Misfortune comes out on August 4th and we have an early taste test for you. This thing is more than just a macabre makeover. Joining the lineup is the new Raven’s Blood (black cherry) Frosty and Spoon of Gloom as well as four new spicy mystery sauces, accompanying fries and chicken nuggets. It’s a fun way to celebrate the return of Netflix’s hit show, so I’m breaking out my finest Pugsly outfit. Will you be on the hunt for the Wednesday Addams Meal of Misfortune at Wendy’s? #fastfood #wendys #wednesdayaddams #foodtok #chickennuggets ♬ original sound – snachwithzach
Thirdly, there’s a mobile game, Escape from Wednesday’s Woe, on Wendy’s mobile app. Players dodge traps for the chance to earn restaurant rewards and win a US$10,000 prize.
