Nike took time out over the weekend from filling the universe with football ahead of the World Cup, to remind people that it’s there for all sports. Ironically, of the dozens of World Cup month campaigns celebrating the fans in fandom, this one, a Knicks NBA win hooray, may be remembered most.
Wieden+Kennedy and Nike have scored a massive goal with a little film accompanied by the simple statement, Sleep Well, NY, set to Billy Joel’s New York State of Mind.
The film was released as the New York Knicks won their first NBA championship since 1973. The film, 99% emotion plus 1% product placement and posted on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram & X, has captured hearts, receiving hundreds of thousands of Likes and outpourings of love in its comments.
The Wieden+Kennedy spot was directed by Josh Safdie.
