Santa and his reindeer are usually well fed for their epic Christmas Eve journey. Mince pie, sherry and carrots in the UK. Milk, cookies and carrots in the US and Aus…
But this year, Soup Kitchen London is hoping they’ll miss out on at least the UK feeding frenzy. Wonderhood Studios has devised a better gift in its awareness campaign for the homeless, elderly & vulnerable support organisation.
Sorry Santa encourages families across the UK to donate the cost of Santa’s traditional mince pie, sherry and Rudolph’s carrot (£5.55) to people going without food over the festive period.
Making that encouragement tangible is a Christmassy ceramic plate bearing the message, Sorry, Santa, we’ve donated to Soup Kitchen instead, designed to sit where the mince pie and sherry would usually be left on Christmas Eve.

The campaign is running primarily on social media, supported by a range of celebrities and influencers, including WhatWillyCook and Love Islands’ India Reynolds, who are encouraging audiences to start their own ‘Sorry Santa’ tradition by donating to Soup Kitchen, London.
The campaign extends the ongoing partnership between Wonderhood Studios and Soup Kitchen London’s to highlight the reality of homelessness, especially over the Christmas period. Previous work has included recreating the real meals people experiencing homelessness have eaten on Christmas Day and partnering with Just Eat to enable the public to send hot meals directly to those in need.
Wonderhood Studios creatives, Holly Nash and Alysha Radia, commented, “Christmas is a time for giving. Every year, we spare a thought for Santa, making sure he’s well fed as he makes his magical journey across the world. But we forget there are millions of real people who will go hungry this Christmas. We hope people will extend their generosity to those who are actually in need, and maybe even start a tradition of donating to the Soup Kitchen instead.”
