Two Special Jury Prizes and twenty-two Gold Screens were handed out at The Young Director Award presented at Cannes Lions.
The Special Jury Prizes went to:
- Tara O’Callaghan, Call Me Mommy, produced by Motherland Ireland
- Sinan Sevinç, Split Second, produced by Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg Germany
Australia’s Gold winner:
- Revolver’s Victoria Singh-Thompson won her Gold for Australia in Short Film, 14 in February.
14 in February was written and directed by Singh-Thompson, produced by Revolver and supported by Screen NSW’s Screenability fund.
The story of a hard-of-hearing 13-year-old student, whose reality closes in the more time she spends with her teacher, premiered at the Sydney Film Festival earlier this month.
Australian director, Mick Soiza, won a Silver Screen award in the Changing the World Frame by Frame category for his anti-bullying campaign S.O.S. (Speak Out Sooner).
