It’s Christmas, the time of joy and goodwill. All that excitement and happiness buzzing in the air makes Christmas difficult for some. Some people are fighting depression, some are stressed, some are lonely. adam&eve/DDB Berlin and Deutsche Telekom have created a wonderfully warm story about a teacher who spends his entire day asking people, “how are you?”. But that comes with a toll.
The message is that all it takes is a phone call to check in on someone. Iconoclast director, Jonathan Alric, has done a great job of giving that message the emotional impact it deserves.
“We want all people to be connected to each other in the best possible way. Social cohesion is the cement that keeps our society worth living in,” stated Ulrich Klenke, chief brand officer at Deutsche Telekom. “Many of us have had a tough year. More than ever, people are worried about the future. Especially now it is important to listen to each other and be there for each other. Let’s make sure together that everyone is doing well. That’s what our Christmas campaign raises awareness about.”
Jens Pfau, chief creative officer at adam&eve/DDB Berlin, added, “This campaign is your friendly reminder that it is about time to reach out to your loved ones and check if they are really okay. Go make that call. Now.”
The campaign launched on Slovakia on November 8 and is running now in Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland and Romania, supported by locally adapted print and digital.
