It’s a very big achievement for an agency and its brand when a 10-second teaser for an ad, posted by an unverified account, can set social media alight with speculation.
adam&eveDDB and John Lewis have done it again.
Excitable Edgar opened an account on Twitter and Facebook a month ago. On November 12, it posted a video of a dragon knocker on a wooden door, covered in a layer of snow. The accompanying note reads, Meet Edgar. 14.11.19 #ExcitableEdgar.
That’s all it took to get 792,217 Views on Twitter, with 1,617 Likes and 524 Shares in less than a day. Someone even noticed that @johnlewis, the handle of the man so often confused with the retailer of the same name had followed the account. Someone else that the font used in the post is the same as that used in all John Lewis ads campaigns.
Excited Edgar’s bio reads, “Loves all things festive. Christmas trees, Christmas food, Christmas snow, Christmas lights…” and the Twitter account, which follows no one has already gained more than 1,686 followers.
