The world of finances, cryptocurrency and online social trading is complex. So is the world of Game of Thrones. But inside that series is an enigmatic character, Hodor, who throughout the episodes carries Bran on his back while uttering only a single word, Hodl.
Hodl has sparked many memes all of which, according to eToro’s latest global campaign, are gross misappropriations. Hodl has become shorthand for “hold-the-door” for Game of Thrones fans, an acronym due to Hodor’s single word vocabulary.
For cryptocurrency fans and other people in the know in finance, it means something else – the act of holding onto your cryptocurrency rather than selling it.
So in an attempt to familiarise people with the world of finances, cryptocurrency and online social trading, BBR Saatchi & Saatchi and eToro are taking a page out of some of the world’s most iconic shows.
“There is definitely more to come and we promise to keep you posted,” BBR Saatchi & Saatchi noted.
