Last year, BETC Paris & Canal+ “remade” the Spitfire battle scene from Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk. It was absolutely true to the classic original – except that the pilots seemed to have aged a bit. Despite their advanced age, failing bladders, trembling and cataracts, they hung in there heroically and played their part. But possibly shouldn’t have.
The message was, Don’t let films grow old before watching them.
The film was a roaring success. And a tough act to follow. But BETC, Steve Rogers and La Pac have taken on the challenge. And triumphed. This year’s remade Hollywood blockbuster, Mission Really Impossible, is a thrilling spy film made even more nerve-wracking (aka, hilariously tragi-comic) due to its senior cast. The grey-haired but very feisty heroes are faced with unexpected challenges like the fact that eye recognition software is incompatible with cataracts, and a steady hand is a critically important tool when defusing a bomb.
The message lives on. Luckily for their subscribers, Canal+ has the first broadcast rights on major films in France.
