Let’s be honest. Beyonce could probably stand still in a dressing gown and people would gasp with awe and admiration…
…hold on. She has. And they did.
But an ad in which she admits that working out can be hard and reveals how she conquers it? That’s very, very likely going to sell the clothes she’s wearing while she works out.
Those clothes happen to all come from her activewear label, Ivy Park.
The Lemonade-esque ad is a montage of clips and stills – workout, performance and “home movie”…
…threaded together by Beyonce’s voice sharing advice like,
“I teach my body every day that I can go further.I know my body can learn how to bend and not break,” and…
“Even when my throat is burning and my lungs feel like they’re drowning, sweat is stinging my eyes and my feet feel like they’re gonna explode, when I’m about to give up, I picture that one person I love more than anyone. I see their face and they’re smiling and cheering and they’re so proud of me.”
The ad is not meant to look like a slick professional production. It’s a little bit arthouse, but much more “home-made” – so much more “home-made” than Kate Hudson’s ad for Fabletics.
And that is a key asset. The idea is to put Queen Bey on a tier that makes her widsom usable. It also makes useful every woman’s hunger to catch a glimpse of the real Beyonce.
And the ad is motivating. Her advice appears to be genuine, tried-and-true wisdom.
