Bob Mackintosh is leaving R/GA and the advertising industry. He plans to travel throughout the world with his family for the rest of the year after he leaves the agency at the end of January.
Mackintosh became regional VP executive creative director APAC at R/GA in June 2017 after a three-month stint as freelance executive creative director at R/GA Shanghai. He had left Havas Sydney in November 2016 after eleven years, first as executive creative digital then as executive creative director, where he oversaw campaigns for Air New Zealand, Coca-Cola, LEGO, Pizza Hut, IKEA and Virgin Mobile. He has won the awards that matter, including Cannes Lions, One Show Pencils, D&AD Pencils and AWARD awards, where he also served as a judge.
Before Host, Mackintosh was digital creative director of Tequila / TBWA Sydney, overseeing global campaigns for New Line Cinema, Nissan, Absolut and Sony Playstation.
Sean Lyons, global chief executive officer, R/GA, commented, “We’re sad to see Bob go and more than a little bit envious of his plans, but he’s leaving the creative teams and work in very capable hands. Bob has built and led our creative leadership in the region and done so with wit and grace.”
Bob Greenberg, founder, R/GA, added, “Fearlessness and curiosity are two of the qualities that we most cherish in our people, and stepping away from a job you love into the great unknown takes both. It’s a rare opportunity that Bob has seized, and he leaves with everyone’s best wishes and an inkling that, as is often the case at R/GA, our paths may converge again in the future.”
