Hot on the heels of Grey New York’s being named Agency of the year by Adweek and Ad Age, Grey London has topped the D&AD awards tally with 19 – 17 InBook and 2 Nominations.
It’s so embarrassing when you host an awards week and do brilliantly. In the UK, BBH has 11 awards and Adam & Eve, 8. Leo Burnett and OgilvyOne London both have six.
All may change when the Pencils are announced on May 22.
Australia did well. We have 35 awards this year – 23 InBooks and 12 Nominations. New Zealand did so well. Overall, it holds only 14 awards, but that includes 7 Pencil nominations. To see how we fared in a whole world view, check out The Stable’s report by country and report by category.

D&AD chief executive officer, Tim Lindsay commented, “Entries to D&AD have gone up over 10% this year, which is a refection of D&AD’s increasing popularity in maturing creative markets like Brazil and China. The main theme we’re seeing this year is one of convergence: the lines between categories are becoming more and more blurred, which means ideas have to be smarter and the execution more pristine than ever. We’ve also seen a massive increase in smaller design studios entering – which I hope indicates the creative industries are in rude health at every level.”
In total, 683 awards were handed out at the 2014 awards, up on the figure of 614 from the previous year.
Campaigns looking hot are:
Ogilvy&Mather Paris’s Smarter People for Smarter Cities for IBM, which topped the D&AD tally with 13 awards
Grey London’s The Sunday Times Rich List, with 11
Ogilvy & Mather Brazil’s Real Beauty Sketches, with 6.
