The entry deadline for the D&AD Next Photographer and Next Director is one month away, February 17. D&AD is ready, its jury foremen and judges chosen. Are you?
Laura Gregory, founder of Great Guns, is the foreman for the Next Director award and photographer, James Day, leads the Next Photographer jury.
The judges will review all submitted entries and a shortlist will be announced on March 30. The judging of the winners will take place during D&AD Festival in April and the two winners will be announced on May 19 at the Awards Ceremony. The winners receive a D&AD Pencil and a place in the 2016 D&AD Annual. All shortlisted entries also get a mention in the Annual.
A series of events will be held at the Festival for shortlisted applicants. These include a photography exhibition of the best new photographers (Next Photographer shortlist), a screening of films from the most talented new directors (Next Director shortlist), and mentoring sessions showing their work, where career advice and networking with the judges and mentors will be available.
Tim Lindsay, D&AD chief executive officer, noted, “The two winners will receive Next Awards Pencils which is a fantastic accolade for someone at the beginning of their career, but the Next Awards are more than just the final prize. The fantastic thing about them is that they are an award that nurtures future talent, all shortlisted creatives will get the chance to have their work showcased and meet with industry heavyweights, vital for taking those next career steps.”

The Next Awards entry fees start from £20, submitted work doesn’t need to have been commercially released, but must have been completed after January 1 2014.
