As Burger King aptly notes, trick-or-treating certainly seems like a terrifying idea this year – especially in France, where Covid is flourishing again.
So from October 31 to November 1, Burger King France and David Madrid are inviting guests to come and celebrate Halloween from the safety of their cars. Burger King is hoping that trick-or-treaters will “terrify” its drive-thru employees with their ghoulish cars and, in exchange, get a discount on their orders. The scariest disguise shared on social networks will get a special surprise as part of the chain’s Whoppeuuur Drive campaign.

“Despite the context, Halloween will always be a festive time that kids and their parents should celebrate together. There was no way we could miss out on that,” stated Constance de Vasselot, group manager family marketing at Burger King France. “With Whoppeuuur Drive, we’re offering families a fun, creative and responsible alternative to going door-to-door trick-or-treating.”
The campaign by David Madrid offers inspiration with some very spooky car costume ideas – cardboard vampire teeth stuck on the bumper, ketchup as fake blood, the toilet paper you stockpiled during quarantine repurposed as mummy bandages. The campaign film adds the excitement of competition with its showcase of very spooky cars.
“Burger King has been able to adapt to the ‘new normal’ while maintaining its identity and sense of humour. We are very proud to be able to support this brand that constantly shows empathy and relevance to its customers. With Whoppeuuur Drive, French families will continue to enjoy Halloween together,” stated Saulo Rocha, executive creative director of David Madrid.
