Burger King Brazil has just launched an ice cream that looks like the poop emoji. Its thinking (actually the thinking of agency, David São Paulo) is simple.

The ice cream, which will be available spring-summer from a special ice cream truck in a range of cities in Brazil, promotes the fact that Burger King’s dessert menu is now free of artificial ingredients.
“It’s better to look like a poop on the outside than to be stuffed with lots of bad ingredients on the inside,” Rogério Chaves, creative director at David São Paulo, stated.
The ice cream is likely to polarise people but David and Burger King have a history of making news with nasty food associations. David São Paulo also created Moldy Whopper.
“Just like we did with the Moldy Whopper, we are using a powerful and memorable visual to make people think about what’s in their food and making a strong point about ours,” stated Renata Leão and Edgar Gianesi, executive creative directors at David São Paulo.
Meanwhile, the agency is being reviewed by Burger King. The chain has put its media and creative accounts up for review with David, Dentsu agency, 360i; David WPP sibling, Ogilvy; and independent agencies; O’Keefe, Reinhard & Paul and Fig, participating.
