Channel 4 has appointed David Wigglesworth as executive creative director and creative partner of 4creative. He will join the agency in January from Grey London, where he was executive creative director, succeeding Lynsey Atkin who stepped down from her role as executive creative director last month.
In the expanded role, Wigglesworth will maintain 4creative’s creative excellence as well as collaborate with a variety of teams across the business to bring the Altogether Different spirit of the Channel 4 brand to life in new and innovative ways. He will also be jointly responsible for leading and growing the agency with newly promoted director of 4creative, Miketta Lane.
Lane and Wigglesworth will both report to chief marketing officer Katie Jackson.
Wigglesworth ends a two-and-a-half year stint as ECD at Grey London. Before Grey, he spent five years as a crerative director at Droga5 London. He has also worked at Sony Music, St Lukes, Mcgarrybowen & Fallon London, for brands such as Amazon, Prime Video, Diet Coke, Pringles, Vodafone, Peta, Rustlers, Setapp and Maserati.
Channel 4 chief marketing officer, Katie Jackson, stated, “After I first met David, I couldn’t stop thinking about our conversation. He pushes limits, revels in creative chaos and really really loves TV. His work is innovative, energetic and boundless, awarded at every major international award show including D&AD, Cannes and the One Show. I’m delighted he is coming to join us at 4 and can’t wait to see what rules we can break together.”
Wigglesworth added, “As a kid who spent their waking life one foot away from a TV screen, Channel 4 was special. Hollyoaks coached me through puberty, Beavis & Butt-head blew my tiny mind and Brass Eye opened my eyes to satire. In my career, I’ve always admired 4creative, setting the bar impossibly high with years of ground-breaking work. Creative me (and kid me) are excited AF at this opportunity. I can’t wait to team up with the enigmatic Katie and her team of renegades, to keep the hits coming for 4creative.”
