J.Walter Thompson explores the warm feelings of Christmas giving for Debenhams. CHI&Partners recreates the buzz of anticipating Christmas’ arrival.
J.Walter Thompson has stayed with its 2014 campaign idea, #foundit, for Debenham’s.
Rather than replace it, the agency has developed it. The 2014 Found It, was all about the magnificence of the store at Christmas and the wonder of what you might find there.
This year, Found It gets personal. And emotive in a different way. Each ad is a Christmas message to the recipient of a Christmas gift from the giver. It’s the story of finding a gift that is in everyone’s immediate thoughts at this time of year.
The ad uses the well-known voices of Dawn French, Sarah Millican, Jamelia, and James Nesbitt. There are six little ads that fit together to form the core commercial running as a 60 second execution.

CHI&Partners’ Christmas ad for department store chain, Argos, is a functional ad masquerading as an emotive sports action video.
The ad, Just Can’t Wait for Christmas, promotes the retail chain’s new Fast Track Collection and Same-Day Delivery services with an extreme skiing video…
…that also gets to show off the chain’s top selling brands – Samsung, Fitbit, Nespresso and Xbox…and Minions.
The film was shot on a mountainside in Chile’s Valle Nevado, known by daredevil skiers for its 6,000m peaks and vast stretches of treeless off-piste terrain.
50 professional skiers and snowboarders form the cast, led by international Canadian snowboarder, Justin Lamoureux. There are also snow-mobiles, snow-buggies, zorbs – and an Elsa bed from Disney’s Frozen, filled with Argos’ top Christmas gifts and a wing-suited Star Wars-masked stuntmen hovering overhead.
The film was created by Colin Smith and Angus Vine at CHI&Partners.
It was directed by Mark Zibert through Rogue Films. It launched, as did John Lewis’ Chrissy ad, during Channel 4’s Gogglebox.

“We wanted to create a Christmas experience which would provide a breath – or a gulp – of fresh air, in amongst all of the usual cuddly animals, love songs and sentimentalism; and which heralds the most 21st century way to shop – online combined with immediate fulfilment through delivery or store.”
