Weather forecasters can get it so wrong. So if you’ve planned to take your Toyota Aygo out with its canvas sunroof down and it snows…
…you definitely want to wreak revenge on the weather forecaster.
That’s what Del Campo Saatchi & Saatchi Madrid did. To make sure that people pay attention to the Toyota Aygo’s standout feature – its canvas sunroof – the agency rigged the sunroofs of three cars to respond to the weather forecast. If the forecast was ‘sunny’, the sunroof would automatically (and irreversibly) open when the car was turned on. If the forecast was ‘rainy’, the sunroof couldn’t be opened.
Del Campo then gave an Aygo to each of three famous weather forecasters for a month, in Paris, Milan and Madrid…
…and filmed the results. So in the film, the forecasters are forced to face the consequence of inaccuracies in their forecasts. In countries where there’s snow, that gets the sunroof message across.
“Aygo is fun and irreverent so we wanted to do something aligned with the brand personality. The most difficult part of the idea was to convince famous forecasters to be part of the challenge,” noted Stephane Rydlewski, creative, media & production manager – Toyota Europe.
The tagline, Go Fun Yourself, couldn’t better for the car or the stunt.
The online film and 30 second TV edits launched in Italy and France on February 27th before they were rolled out across the rest of Europe.
