The restructuring of Dentsu seems to have caused ructions in the top layer. Within a year of Dentsu consolidating all of its creative into one entity, Dentsu Creative, chief executive officer, Wendy Clark, and now Fred Levron, chief creative officer, have decided to leave. Clark left in September last year after joining the agency in 2020. Levron joined the agency in November 2021 from FCB. Dentsu and he agreed to part ways a day ago.
Levron’s departure comes five months after Dentsu announced it was consolidating its Japanese and global leadership teams to form one single leadership group. In November last year, Hiroshi Igarashi became the global chief executive of the holding company while Levron remained global chief creative officer, but not in Japan.
Dentsu commented, “During his tenure as dentsu’s global chief creative officer (excluding Japan), Fred developed and launched Dentsu Creative to the market, bringing together Dentsu’s global creative efforts under one roof, and led the organization to a very successful showing at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity.
“Creative remains a critical cornerstone of our strategic vision for Dentsu. We thank Fred for his energy and commitment to the transformation of Dentsu Creative and wish him success in his next challenge.”
Levron’s credo was “modern creativity” – which combined the aims to create culture, change society and invent the future and a scale for measuring work creatively across Dentsu offices.
Dentsu Creative has hired a number of chief creative officers throughout the world since it was formed. These include Rafael Rizuto from BBH US in Dentsu Creative CCO in the US, Pedro Pérez from Energy BBDO in Chicago and Riccardo Fregoso from Publicis Italy in Italy. It is currently looking for a global creative leader.
