There are so many options when you’re searching. Doesn’t matter if it’s a hotel room or music for your bath. Wero, the European payment solution developed by the European Payments Initiative (EPI), wants you to know that there is one obvious way to pay though.
Creative agency, DEPT®, and Bonkers United director, Sharif Abdel Mawla, have translated that into a campaign infused with humour. In veel keuze, een manier om te betalen (So much choice, one way to pay) the options start flooding the searcher in real life A woman scrolling through concerts gets a guitarist, then a pop group, then a harp ensemble in her bathroom. A man comparing hotels on his laptop ends up in a castle suite, a hostel bunk and a linen tent without leaving his chair. Nobody reacts. Only paying stays simple.
The Dutch campaign is running across TV, CTV, online video, social, radio and OOH. In social DEPT®’s content picks up where the films leave off, letting the idea keep unfolding in people’s feeds.
The new work follows a strategic campaign, Sowieso (no matter what), that laid the foundation for the company’s transition from iDEAL to Wero, answering every question about the switch with the typically Dutch word of certainty.
“Sowieso gave people the confidence to make the switch, and keeping the story simple, with one all-in-one proposition at its heart, was clearly the right call. More than seven in 10 Dutch consumers want one convenient way to pay that covers their everyday needs, and Wero is exactly that. Now we want it to be part of the moments people actually look forward to, like planning a trip or a night out, without ever having to think about how they pay,” stated Richma Piaraly, CMO at EPI.
“With Sowieso, the job was to take the doubt out of a big change. Now that people know Wero, we can have a lot more fun. Choosing is half the joy of buying something online and half the stress, so we turned that chaos into entertainment and let Wero be the one calm moment at the end,” added Pol Hoenderboom, executive creative director at DEPT®.
