There are many reasons to love Droga5 New York’s ad for Chase Quick Pay. It’s a bank features ad in disguise. It’s a celebrity ad that uses its celebrities credibly. It’s a great story.
The ad’s purpose is to highlight the Chase Bank feature that lets customers send and receive money in real-time.
The ad itself is a story about Steph Curry and Serena Williams sharing a green room. They slog it out in a game of ping pong that gets increasingly competitive. Things get broken.
Broken things get paid for. It’s believable, the bank feature fits naturally into the story…and it’s entertaining first.
The social media teaser, which announced the “match” and invited people to choose #TeamStephen or #TeamSerena, racked up more than 2 million views on Instagram and Facebook – creating anticipation for the ad. People looking for an ad? Apparently, it’s possible.
Coming soon: I’m bringing my shot to @serenawilliams in an epic ping-pong match by @Chase. Tap to join my team. #ad https://t.co/0NFrqbkgnd
