Rethink has appointed Dustin Homes as chief creative officer. He joins from TBWA\Chiat\Day where he has been chief creative officer for two years. Tomes joins Rethink shortly after Mike Dubrick’s promotion to North American CCO. He will report to Dubrick and will collaborate with Rethink’s Toronto and Vancouver creative leadership on some of the agency’s major Canadian and global clients. Tara Lawall, chief creative officer in New York, will continue to oversee the agency’s New York portfolio.
“Dustin has left a wake of creative excellence everywhere he’s been. He is the kind of creative talent and character that embodies what we’re aspiring to here. Dustin brings a thoughtfulness, ambition, and vision to the agency with a proven ability to lead,” Dubrick stated. “When we met Dustin a year ago, we knew he was the exact type of leader we needed to help us build what’s next for Rethink.”
Before TBWA\Chiat\Day, Tomes held senior creative leadership roles at Le Truc, Saatchi & Saatchi, Droga5, CP+B, and Leo Burnett and has helped shape some of advertising’s most recognisable work in a twenty-year career. Standout work includes Tide’s Gold Cannes Lion-winning Gonna Need More Tide, Game of Thrones and Bud Light’s Super Bowl LIII commercial, #ForTheThrone, Facebook’s Never Lost, and an impressive collection of awards including multiple One Show Pencils, Cannes Lions, D&AD Pencils, and Clio Awards.
“As I reflect on my career, I realise that the work and the people you make it with are inseparable. I’m proudest of the moments when both were exceptional,” Tomes stated. “Rethink is creating some of the smartest, most attention-grabbing work in the business, while keeping humanity at the center of how it operates. You can hear it in the way people speak about one another and their clients, and see it in how long so many have chosen to build their careers here. Joining Rethink is an opportunity to do the best work of my career alongside some of the most talented people in the industry.”
