A Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin is speaking at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra on October 11, part of the Chicago Humanities Festival (CHF). FCB Chicago and CHF decided there was only one apt way to spread the word.
Invitations delivered by ravens.
Yes, the agency and CHF encouraged community members to get tickets to the event by launching the nation’s first-ever direct mail campaign sent by Raven, bringing the infamous GOT into the real world.
“We knew we had to celebrate having the brilliant mind behind A Game of Thrones as an upcoming speaker in a unique and authentic way,” said Philippe Bahar, Chicago Humanities executive director. “Using trained ravens to deliver our announcements felt like the perfect way to tap into the beloved series while also inspiring the community to discover what we’re all about. Our organisation hosts more than 130 events a year that we know people who enjoy creative and thought-provoking topics would love to participate in.”
Chicagoans got to see the special deliverers overhead, carrying their invitation scrolls on suburban streets, at high-rise apartments or in notable Chicago destinations – just how messages are delivered in GOT.
